Our key focus is the community’s surrounding the black mountain area. The Black Mountain Shared Space Project is a cross community project who’s shared goal is making our world a better place for all. We aim to tackle key community issues through shared space and participation, from mental health to capacity building and upwards we will strive to uplift our surrounding community’s.
Shared History Programme
We have organised a number of shared history programmes, which give people from different religious and cultural backgrounds to come together to explore each other's respective cultures. These programmes range from cemetery tours, to visiting museums such as the "The Siege of Derry", Free Derry", The Somme Heritage.
This group of women have been meeting for approximately a year and a half now, they initially started a course "Women in community Transformation" that would help them play a more active role in their own communities The women have since completed other courses together such as conflict resolution, mediation and are presently working on a social enterprise programme.
Although we at Black Mountain work with women, men and youth groups, we understand that it's not enough to work with these groups in isolation. We organise a number of activities at set times through-out the year that provides the opportunity for full family work on a cross community basis.
